Volunteer Firefighter

The City of Russell has an open opportunity available for a Volunteer Firefighter. This position performs work in preventing, combating, and extinguishing fires; responding to hazardous materials incidents and emergency calls which include special rescue situations such as vehicle and steep angle rescue.
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and possess a high school diploma or GED. Volunteer Firefighters are expected to complete and pass an approved Firefighter I program within two years after hire. Resident of Russell County within six months of employment.

Power Plant Operator

Under the supervision of the Electric Utility Director and the Electric Production Superintendent, the Power Plant Operator is a non-exempt position under the FLSA who performs work in the City’s electrical generation facilities. The primary responsibilities include maintaining continuous operation of the generating units, monitoring the City’s connection with other electric utility systems, and delivering the necessary electrical power to the City’s electrical system. The employee is expected to select the appropriate combination of prime movers and related auxiliary equipment to produce electrical energy and monitor equipment operations for possible malfunctions. Involvement with other department heads and city staff. The employee is subject to other duties as assigned.

Full Time Police Officer

Under the supervision of the Police Captain, the Police Officer is a non-exempt position under the FLSA. The employee performs a variety of duties in the enforcement of laws and prevention of crimes while supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States of America and the State of Kansas. The employee controls traffic flow and enforces State and local traffic regulations, performs investigative activities and a variety of technical and administrative tasks in support of the Police Department. High school diploma or GED. This position requires certification from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center and 40 hours of continuing education annually.

Parks/Cemetery Maintenance Worker

Under the supervision of the Park Superintendent and/or Leadworker, the Park Maintenance Worker position involves skilled and semi-skilled work in maintaining public grounds. The employee in this position is involved in the maintenance and repair of equipment, structures, and other properties and grounds of the City.  Less than one year of park maintenance experience. The employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills after six months in the position. High school diploma of G.E.D. Must obtain and maintain required certification for chemical plant and/or pest control application that may be required in the course of the job. Computer skills are encouraged.

Physical Therapist

A licensed professional who provides coordinated care to patients of all age groups.  Plans, implements and evaluates patient care plans to restore or maintain patient well being.  Plans, organizes and conducts physical therapy treatment program based on the medical referral and their evaluation.  Collaborates with interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications:
